Committed to the environment

At ZALUX we export 85% of our luminaires to more than 70 countries from our production plants in Alhama de Aragón. And, in all phases of the production process we promote activities to minimize environmental impact.

ZALUX is certified according to the international standard ISO 14001:2015, which integrates care for the Environment in the management to promote environmental protection and reduce the impact, optimize resource management and enhance innovation and productivity.

Our commitment to the environment goes beyond legislative and regulatory requirements. We apply eco-design techniques and perform life cycle analysis of our products. This allows us to identify and quantify the use of materials and energy, in order to minimize environmental burdens.

“We actively work to reduce our environmental impact, and thereby contribute to the improvement of society and our environment for future generations. We are an environmentally responsible company.” – José Antonio López, General Manager.

In this effort to care for the environment, our Advanced Engineering department has been working closely with the University of Zaragoza (UZ) since 2009 to analyze, optimize and minimize our environmental impact.

The European Union estimates that around 80% of the environmental impact that a product will generate throughout its life is determined in the design phase. For this reason, we apply eco-design in all our activities. To this end, we use a tool developed together with the UZ, which calculates the environmental impact and carbon footprint of a product from the choice of raw materials to the end of the product’s life.

In addition, we have integrated LED technology into our lighting products (one of the sectors with the highest energy consumption) from the outset, and we continue to work to incorporate the latest innovations with the aim of minimizing environmental impact.
